from my new computer! Finally! (Did I ever tell ya I like instant gratification?) It's so nice to have a little speed back in my life, and this one is faster than the last one too! Yeah! Now I just need to get Photoshop installed on here and I will be GOOD TO GO!
Landon had a football scrimmage after pictures last night (I will share a few pics later). It was FREEZING! We totally didn't go prepared at all. Poor little man was shivering at one point, but we just tried to keep him distracted and he was a-ok! He has another game on Saturday and I think we will try to make it to D's soccer game after that! (See ya there Sarah!)
Otherwise not much going on here, just keeping super busy with school and football. Elliot and I went to St Joe today to do a few things. Landon is doing well in school, I'm impressed with how much they are already learning. Bailey is amazing me with her reading, I never thought she would get this far, she is far surpassing anything I expected! She will be reading chapter books in no time! (Not sure how my kids got so smart..., not that I'm bragging at all, but a mom is allowed, right?)
This cold is still knocking me out, I've been in bed no later than 9:30 the last three nights and I still wake up exhausted! Elliot was up a few times last night though, so that could have somthing to do with todays exhaustion! Never fear though, a great Pumpking Spice white mocha from starbucks wakes me up a little! I'm so happy that the pumpkin spice is back, it's the BEST!
So, yeah, enough random mumbling, I'll be back when I can share a few pics!

Football
I feel as if this may be the title of lots of posts for the next few months. NFL started this weekend, so we are totally consumed with football at this point! I love to watch Landon play, but NFL just isn't my thing. I'm trying though, I might as well if that's what's going to be on the t.v. for five months, right?
Today was a good family day. We went to church this morning, although I should say Matt, Landon & Bailey went to churc. Elliot and I ended up sitting in the back. He was so tired and cranky. I did listen a little bit, but didn't absorb much. We started a new sermon series called "What Matters" that will last a few weeks, so hopefully next time I can catch more.
We went to Crane's this afternoon to pick a few apples and more importantly get some Apple Cider donuts. We normally make this trip a few times per year and we all look forward to it. We gave Elliot an apple to hold onto and it quickly became a favorite item, he didn't want it out of his site! After picking apples and eating donuts we drove around and took some great pics. We went to the New Richmond bridge, some railroad tracks nearby and then a graffiti filled tunnel thing that I remember from when I was little. I had to step outside my comfort zone to get some of these pics. I don't know why I'm so scared to just get out and take pictures by something, it's a road, it's not like I'm trespassing or anything. Oh well, I did it and got a few great pics. I really wanted to run a few actions on them to make them really cool, but it took me over 45 minutes to run a portion of an action and then the program shut down on me, so I give up and will show you a few untouched pics, eventually I will repost after running actions!

OK, I give up on pictures... nothing is working right for me, seriously! I was able to s-l-o-w-l-y upload two pictures, yet they aren't rotated right, so just turn your neck to a very uncomfortable position to view them! I have about 20 more I would like to upload yet, later though!
Tomorow night starts BSF and although I'm not exactly looking forward to the commitment I am looking forward to being more disciplined. I have grown a lot in my faith in the last few months with everything that has been happening, I feel as if I've been on a very long roller coaster ride but been forced to grow closer to God through that, but in spite of my growth I haven't been very diligent in reading my bible at all. So I am looking forward to being better at that! Bailey & Landon are both eventually going to be going with me, Bailey's class isn't ready yet (they are training leaders yet) and Landon had football on Monday nights until mid-October so he will start when that is done. They will both be going to Wednesday night church too so I don't feel bad having them miss BSF for a little while.
I know I had more I wanted to say, but I'm exhausted. I'm getting a cold and it's wearing me out just terribly. I think my body is just plain worn out from the past week, so no suprise on the cold really, I just hate how tired I feel.
Have a great week!

Football
This morning bright and early Landon had a football scrimmage in Allendale. We had to leave here by 7:40, the kids warmed up/played from 8:15-12:00. Teams are small this year so they boys literally played almost the entire time, there were only 6 boys sitting out at a time, which isn't enough. They were so worn out and tired by thier last scrimmage (they play 4 different teams). There wasn't time for them to eat, much less hardly get a drink, but they still had lot's of fun and played pretty well!
I downloaded a trial verson of PS so that I could do a little scrapping til I get some things figured out for computer. Unfortunatley this computer is S-L-O-W! It's hardly worth opening PS up, it took me over an hour to get this "layout" done and it's just cropping pictures and placing them. I need to do Elliot's birthday invites, but not sure I have enough time in a week to get them done... I'll figure something out I'm sure!
So... here are some pictures for ya...

Blessings abound...
even in the bad things that happen.
This morning I met my dad and Mary at the bakery for muffins. We sat outside and talked for a while, then we left. Elliot fell asleep on the way home and so I was going to try to lay down with him for a few minutes. Wouldn't you know it, the phone rang and woke him up, it was Matt. But while on the phone with him call waiting rang in with an unknown (to me) phone number. I switched over and answered it. It was a customer at the bakery that... found my purse. I NEVER EVER carry a checkbook, but just recently have had to for my grandpa's stuff. My purse was left open, so they found the checkbook and called me. Thankfully. So yes, I had to drive back to the bakery, but it was found by Christian women (while we were eating I heard them talking about BSF, not that everyone that attends BSF always does the right thing, but this is how I initially knew that they were Christians) who held each other accountable and found my phone number (which normally wouldn't have been even in my purse), called me and held onto my purse for me til I could get there! So, even in what could have been a terrible situation, God was there and the blessings abound.
So, this is my challenge to myself, even though it seems that the bad things just keep flowing in, to look for the good within the bad. There is always something good, just have to look. And then focus on the positive instead of the negative!
Enjoy your day/weekend and look for the positive!

Nothing is right...
OK, I'm going to try really hard to avoid complaining here, just one quick sentance though... NOTHING IS GOING RIGHT FOR ME RIGHT NOW. Now, realize that I know my life isn't terrible, but argh... tried getting my computer fixed tonight and well, basically it can't be fixed! So, now we share one computer again (and NFL football started tonight, which means fantasy football started, which means he needs to be on teh computer), I've lost everything that I hadn't backed up (luckily not to much, but a few layouts at least I know). Oh well (here comes the not complaining part), it will be good for me to get my butt of the computer more often and I can't scrap at all on this computer b/c the program isn't on here! So yeah...
Funeral was today, that went well. They did the military salute, gun shots, played taps and all that, it was very nice. THey started playing the taps on the trumpet and that is pretty much where I lost it, it's such a sad song. Now it's all about the technical stuff, trying to figure that stuff out. I'm trying to take a break this weekend from it all though and dig back in next week. TRYING! Tomorow is the first day in 6 days that I don't have to travel to St Joe, and who knows that may just change.
Wednesday I was gone from 3:30 til about 10 for visitation. This meant that Sharon ws going to bring the kids home from school for me, Matt's mom would be here waiting. Landon has to take a bus from his school to a different elementary, then switch busses and take that one to the one near us, we didn't know about the switch until the first day of school, but it all seemed to go ok. Yesterday was a different story though. Matt's mom got a call from the school that he didn't catch the second bus, so he was stuck at school. Not sure exactly what happened, but it sounded like the bus just left him, both of them at the same time. Now, I wasn't there so I don't know if he was taking his time or what happened, but I know that he was pretty upset, and I know I would be to if I thought someone left me and didn't know what to do next. Poor guy, I'm glad I didn't know about it until I got home that night! Lucky too that we left Matt's mom our jeep with the car seat, otherwise he would have been stuck! HOpefully tomorow goes better!

My computer is sick...
And doesn't want to turn on! I am taking it to my Brother-in-law to try and get it fixed soon, but in the mean time if I don't return an e-mail or post you will know why (not that I really havee time anyway really...)
So now you know! Luckily we do have anotehr computer and I can access my email and this blog from it (and lots of other things), but it's Matt's computer and he doesn't like to share! :) :) :)

Mindless Post...
I need something mindless to do before I drive myself crazy. I'm so stressed out with everything going on, I have a million things to do, but can't do any of it right this minute, so instead I sit here and worry about how I will possibly get it all done before we have to leave for visitation tomorow. My house has once again taken a back burner, it's just a pit right now, but I don't have time to do anything... (why am I here then you ask... b/c I'm so stressed right now I could cry and I can't possibly think about doing any of it... so I just shut off the lights so I don't have to see it).
So, instead of a long drawn out post with lot's of information like I would like to do, I need to keep this mindless... so I have some pics to share!
Marilyn took the two kids to the Whitecaps game on Friday night. Landon registered for a jersey prize along with tons of other people. And, his name got called to go down on the field and get a jersey, from a player. A jersey worn in the game! (Not sure if the player actually played or not, but he was soooooo truly excited)

And, today was the first day of school! Landon started 4th grade at a new school... he did wonderful and loved it, ok, maybe he just liked it, but I was thrilled that he didn't mind it at least! I could tell this morning that he was very nervous, especially while we waited for the bus! I felt so bad for him as he waited in line for his bus as he watched all of his friends walk by as they got off thier buses! Poor guy! But it sounds like he made a few friends, and best of all (for him at least) he played basketball on recess with a few guys! Bailey did great too, I truly expected tears, but luckily for me my neighbor girl (the one in the pic next to her) walked her in to her locker and made sure she found it (I avoided going in b/c of the drama from last year... she cried so hard and wouldn't let go of Matt as he had to PUT HER ON the bus!), as I walked by her class later I was assured that she was ok as she was in her seat smiling and talking to the girl next to her! I know she made at least one new friend (a girl from her t-ball team, she won't call her a new friend though, she already knew her of course!). So all in all it was a good day for the kids.

I had an ok day too, I went to do a few last things for the funeral and visitation preperations. I planned on that taking forever, but lucky for us (I went with my grandpa's sister in law, my great aunt) everything went smoothly and quickly. We even had time to chat over lunch for a bit between appointments! Tomorow is visitation adn then funeral on Thursday. Then comes the rest of the stuff, cleaning, taking care of bills, wills, all the "fun" stuff! Luckily we have plenty of willing volunteers to help!
Hope all you with kids had a great first day and enjoyed your time without the kiddo's! I really am going to miss mine! I really HATE getting up in the morning and being so structured, but then again, I don't mind, it forces me to get up and get moving.

Blogging Break
I'm taking a necesary break from blogging for a few day. We had a very long night last night, I slept maybe a total of an hour on a couch that wasn't comfortable at all, my Grandpa passed away peacefully this morning. Very long story and I will fill in details later, but right now I need to try to get a little sleep, we have a busy few weeks ahead, especially this next one with school starting and funeral preperations and attending to do, cleaning house, figuring a bunch of technical stuff out etc. I would appreciate prayers for strenght and energy and peace during all of this, especially for the kids, they are doing ok, but Landon is pretty upset, poor little guy!
Thank you in advance for your prayers!

My quarterback is in blue! (1st pic he is the middle helment, 2nd and 3rd pic he is on the left)
Scrimmage went well last night, the boys did good and it was good for the kids who are playing for the first year to be able to go up against other boys, otherwise some of them freeze at the first "real" scrimmage (next weekend). Afterwards we went to the Dux game, the Dux won!
Elliot went to bed last night without more than 2 ounces of his bottle so I figured he would wake up at some point hungry, but no, he didn't wake up til about 8! I was just telling Matt we needed to start breaking the bottles, he is almost one and all of my kids have been done by one, but we didn't know which one to start with, the night one or the morning one, well I think he showed us where to start... so we may try to forgoe the evening one again, just give him a glass of milk maybe!

Did you know...
1. Michigan law prohibits walking, riding, driving or being present on the right-of-way of a railroad or a railroad yard. The law lists a number of exceptions, such as legitimate passengers, railroad employees and authorized representatives of the railroad. A violation of this section is considered a misdemeanor and is punishable by imprisonment for not more than thirty days, a fine of not more than one hundred dollars or both. Mich. Stat. Ann. § 22.1263 (273) (Law. Co-op. 1999). Also see § 257-1515 for a right-of-way exception for a demonstration snowmobile trail.
Ummmm, we walk across the tracks all the time to get to the restaurant or stores behind our house. Guessing it's not so much across as it is walking on... but Nina has taken some SWEET pics on tracks and I wanted to try, but I'll have to rethink... we live in a busy area, ZPD get's bored sometimes, who knows what could happen, me in jail... for 30 days, that's FUNNY!
2. Insurance companies suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had another problem with our insurance company today. Here's the story in a nutshell and maybe someone has some good ideas of what my "Grevience letter" should say... since I'm terrible at writing letters. I have been getting breast exams once per year for about 15 years now because of family history (sorry if that's a bit much information), never had any issues getting those bills paid, always been billed as b/c of family history. So today I get an explanation of benefits in the mail from my insurance for about 5 appts they aren't going to pay for because medical necesity hasn't been established. Three of them I expected (although didn't realize at the time of appt), I'm very upset by them, but I've already argued and argued and cried and yelled and cried and yelled some more to no avail. One of them was for one of these breast exams. They find no medical necesity. I'm sorry, but I am not going to let myself go and find out one day that I've had cancer and it's been growing for a year now. They also won't let me get a mamogram. With my family history, my genetic proof how is this not medically necesary?????? I owe it to my children to do everything I can to prevent this disease from taking over my body, you would think that they would understand that this is a necesity! An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!!!! So, I need to appeal this whole thing, but we are planning on switching at least myself to a different carrier. I have never had so many problems in my LIFE!!!! My Life... something I plan to have for a long long long time! (Can you tell I'm a bit emotional right now??????!!!!!!!!!)
3. Football Scrimmage Tonight
Landon has his first football scrimmage tonight, should be fun, he's looking forward to it! Afterward we are going to go to the Dux game!
4. I visited Grandpa today
I think the seriousness of this is starting to sink in. I took the kids and he was very happy to see them. He was very talkative and happy, when I said we were going to have to leave he started stuttering a bit more and getting a bit emotional, I think he just realizes that things aren't great. I should find out about the liver biopsy today!
5. We have very few plans for Labor Day
But that's good, Matt is going to (whether he likes it or not) work on the bathroom/kitchen/entryway floor! We will probably go out with some friends one night and spend some good family time together! We will go visit my grandpa at some point too!
6. I was going to save this to post later, but for now I will just post and update whatever I missed tomorow. Matt hates when I post a blog entry when he's here. He thinks this is the stupidest thing ever! Off to make dinner... have a great labor day weekend, I'm sure I'll be back, but those going away will not be either! Stay safe!

Lemonade...

So the kids have been begging all summer to do a lemonade stand... ALL SUMMER, SINCE THE BEGINNING. Well, this being the last week of summer and a VERY VERY VERY hot day we decided to do it! We went to the store, I purchased supplies (lemonade, suckers, cups), the kids made the lemonade, I drew out the letters for the sign, the kids colored it, we got the table to the front yard and they were off! Landon decided 50 cents was a good price and wanted to charge 25 cents for dum dum suckers, but I talked him down to 10. Two years ago the kids did one and Landon made enough money to pay for half of the bike that he wanted, granted, Grandma payed way more for a glass than the price tag said, but he did it! This year they did pretty well too, but not as good as last time. The neighbor kids helped for a while so they each made $2.30 (3 of them) andmy kids made about $6 each! Landon was standing on the corner of state street with his sign for a while even! They had a good time!
Tonight was school open houses. I am so not a fan of school papers. Trying to keep them organized is quite a chore! When it was just Landon it wasn't so bad, but two kids added so much! So tonight we got two piles of papers! And that's just the beginning! Bailey liked meeting her teacher. We already knew her from Landon so that was easy. I wanted to make sure that she was completely comfortable b/c I remeber very clearly the first day last year! YUCK! She seemed to be doing so much better and I talked my neighbor into helping her find her locker and stuff on the first day since Landon won't be there. Meeting Landon's teacher was ok too! He is still just not excited at all, hopefully that will pass, but if not that's ok, I'm totally open to sending him to Roosevelt! No PROBLEM!
So yeah, that's our day! Oh and we just rode bikes to Capt Sundae to spend some of the lemonade money, we took the neighbor kids too! YUMMY!

And some layouts...
No pic today... just way to tired!
It has been a long long day. I'm exhausted! We skipped Shipshewana b/c of the heat and humidity (so I still haven't experienced it), instead we just did Michigan City outlet mall. I did well... actually the kids did well, I didn't do to great, I actually ended up getting a few things from Gap (which we have here) and Banana Republic, but that's it! Elliot made out the best. I was excited to see $1.99 racks at Chidrens place, so he is close to set for Spring Break! Landon and Bailey got quite a bit too, Matt only got two things, but that two things more than he needs according to him!
We made it home by 5:15, just in time for Matt and Landon to head to football practice. Bailey, Elliot and I went for a bit to watch, but in this heat it didn't last to long! Right now I sit here annoyed and crabby at everyone. I just tried to let the phone company know that my Grandpa's bill was on it's way, but b/c he has been sick it is late (he got a notice in mail), but I can't even tell them that b/c I'm not authorized on the account, so they can't even make a note of it. I argued that last year I was able to make changes on the account without question, but now I can't notify them of something, I'm not looking for information, my name is on the check... what the heck????
Bad news on the Grandpa front, his PET scan came back (this is the second one, the first one was good and showed that the cancer hadn't spread), this one unfortunatley showed the cancer was in his liver which isn't good. They are going to do a liver biopsy to find out more. Not sure what action will be taken after that, they may in fact discontinue treatment, just giving him enough chemo to keep him comfortable. Basically at this point the way I understand it there is nothing they can do except let him go comfortably. Very sad!
So, hoping you all had a good Tuesday! Back tomorow with pics of some sort!

Grandpa Update
Two posts, one day... sorry, I really am trying to keep it to one/day (I say that like it's a stuggle, but really it isn't, I know some of you use feeds and it's probably annoying to see that I've updated once again...)
Anyway, this is mostly for family... Grandpa is still in the hospital tonight, they will start feeding him through the feeding tube tonight and see if he can keep that down. If he does he may be able to go home tomorow evening, if not they will keep him. His doctor was suprised that he only made it less than a week without going to the hospital, normally people can last two weeks. He anticipated Grandpa being relased for a few days (if at all) and then being re-admitted shortly after because with the continued radiation he would continue to get sicker and weaker. He did have a few ice chips this afternoon and that seemed to go ok I hear. He has an appt with a lawer this week, so we need to pray that he is able to make it to that, otherwise I think we have all of his papers in order, I'm so very thankful for his brother and sister-in-law for the role that they have taken on in all of this. This time in his life is one that I've worried about for a while, knowing that I was one of the most responsible people in his life and one of the closest people to him, I assumed that the responsiblity would all fall to me, I was worried about how that would all work being so far away with a family of my own, but they have been there the whole way, taking on much of the responsiblity themselves. I am so very thankful! I definately couldn't do this by myself!

This morning we ran to Gap quick to exchange a few things, I found a shirt I liked and tons of stuff for the kids, but I think I'll wait til I go to Michigan city tomorow! After Gap we went swimming at Sarah's pool. The kids had a great time, I'm suprised Elliot made it as long as he did. He didn't get a morning nap and then we were at the pool like 1ish. He fell asleep on the way home and poor buddy kinda woke up when we got home, but never opened his eyes. When I got him out of this carseat he handed me his blanket (eyes closed) and then was feeling around for it so he could cuddle with it, laid him right down and hoping for a few hours sleep from him!
Oh look, Elliot has on a BLUE swim diaper instead of the pink ones we have! Sarah had all blue ones and I had all pink ones so we traded the ones we had with! Lucky Mr. Elliot!

Tonight is Football again, then tomorow I'm shopping, Wednesday or Thursday I have to get to St Joe to visit grandpa, open houses at schools Wednesday night, football scrimmage on Thursday night and I think there may be a varsity football game on Thursday too so we may go to that as well! It just never stops I tell ya, but I try not to complain because truly I can't imagine my life any other way!
What is this you ask... well it's a headlamp of course! Matt got this for Christmas, he wanted it to use for cleaning fish at night, well come May it was missing, so he hasn't used it really ever! But lo and behold, I just had to find it on accident, so now I get the absolute pleasure of seeing him wear it! Lovely huh?
